NCPCR monitors protection of child rights in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, June 21:  National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kanoongo, chaired an inter-departmental review-cum-consultative meeting in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) and Women and Child Development Department here on Friday to monitor protection of child rights in the state.

NCPCR member-secretary Rupali Banerjee Singh, APSCPCR chairperson Ratan Anya along with members, officers of Education, Labour & Employment, UD, Home, Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal Affairs, H&FW, IT, Panchayati Raj and RD departments attended the meeting.

A department-wise PPT presentation was given to highoight status of steps and measures taken for protection of child rights. A detailed department wise review of the measures taken by the respective departments was also made.

Kanoongo directed departments concerned to ensure that all laws, policies and programmes for protection of child rights are implemented properly. He emphasized on greater coordination among all the concerned departments. Making serious observation on children being engaged as domestic help, he urged the authorities to look into the matter and take appropriate action on priority.

He also urged department concerned to ensure that Divyangjan children are not deprived of their rights for which coordinated action is need by departments, like SJETA, Education and H&FW. He also called for conducting training and sensitization of all stakeholders, including departments concerned on the issue, according to an official release.
