Goyal assures Guv to promote Arunachal commerce & industry

ITANAGAR, July 09: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal called on Governor Lt. General Retd) K T Parnaik at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday  when they discussed avenues for marketing state’s horticulture and textile and handicrafts products to national and global  markets and promotions of indigenous production.

Many horticultural products, particularly Kiwi are cultivated in large quantities in the state, which with his ministry’s help would help the farmers to earn remunerative process, Parnaik said and suggested to introduce freight trains and set up cold storage to boost socio-economic development of the state.

Highlighting indigenous expertise in textiles and handicrafts of local community, he said that this expertise is unique and exclusive and needs promotion to have huge impact on economic development of the people, particularly womenfolk, who are traditionally engaged in weaving.

They agreed to skill state aspiring to set up industries and Goyal assured to explore various ways to be an active partner in progress of commerce and industry of the state. (PRO)
