NDBA to host 11th Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Badminton Champ

ITANAGAR, July 10: The state mega five-day Li-Ning 11th Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Badminton Championship 2024 will be held at Namsai from August 18 next, beinge hosted by Namsai District Badminton Association (NDBA) under the aegis of Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA).

This is the first time that NDBA is hosting this event which is expected to have huge impact in the region, said ASBA honourary secretary general Bamang Tago.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein lauded the ASBA for allocating the event to NDBA and assured all possible support.

NDBA president-cum-local MLA Jignu Namchum said that NDBA is all set to host the annual calendar event with this year’s theme ‘No to Drugs, Yes to Badminton’.

A composite ASBA and NDBA delegation headed by Namchum had met DCM on Wednesday and briefed him about importance and impact of the tournament.

The Tournament will be conduct in age categories of:  under 11, 13,15,17,19 and seniors (singles, doubles & mixed doubles).

Around 26 districts, including RGU Sports Control Board, AP Police Sports Control Board, Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, Capital Complex Badminton Association and other ASBA affiliated units would  take part in the event which would showcase skills of large number of best district players, said its organizing secretary C.K Mounglang.

The winners of the tournament will represent the state in upcoming North East Zonal Inter-State Badminton Championship 2024 and National Level Inter-State Championship-2024.

The tournament draws and results of all matches will be online, which is exclusive license issued by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) through Badminton Association of India (BAI) for the players to update  schedules of their matches and result on a regular basis through www.tournamentsoftware.com, Tago  added, according to an ASBA release.
