ITANAGAR | Jan 30 | After launching state-wide measles rubella vaccination (MRV) campaign here today, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said it is an ambitious Govt plan to eradicate measles and control rubella in India and should be taken on mission mode.
Khnadu symbolically unwrapped the vaccination scheduled to begin from February 1 in presence of DyCM Chowna Mein, Cabinet colleagues, Health and Family Welfare Parliamentary Secretary Phurpa Tsering, chief secretary, health commissioner, among other officials.
He urged all stakeholders, especially parents, to get their children vaccinated being offered in all educational institutions, health and community centers and sought active support and cooperation from community based organizations for successful implementation of the mission.
“It is our duty to immunize our children, especially the girl child, from the deadly diseases so that our future generation grows up hale and healthy. For MRVC to be effective, I appeal to all DCs to be proactive and fellow citizens to lend their wholehearted support to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated,” he said.
State’s target is 5 lakh children of 9 months to 15 years age groups.
After completion of the campaign, MR vaccine will be introduced in routine immunization and will replace measles vaccine, given to children of 9-12 months and 16-24 months of age groups. (CMO)
