TEZPUR, Jan 10: Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra on Thursday exhorted NCC cadets to imbibe leadership instinct to serve the nation, develop sublime personality traits and join Indian armed forces.
Addressing ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat’ NCC camp in Tezpur University campus here, he said NCC is a very important institution, which has been instilling nationalism, patriotism and spirit of ‘Nation First’ among young students.
Recalling his first NCC camp of 1955, in which he had received best social service award, he said that it was the beginning of his life of punctuality and discipline. The NCC helps in character building, motivation, secular outlook, camaraderie, leaderships along with discipline and punctuality besides inculcating self-discipline, obedience and sincerity.
He advised the cadets to have self pride and self respect by following NCC’s guiding principle of ‘Unity and Discipline’ to rise in life as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also a NCC cadet.
The 12-day annual camp since January 1, conducted here by Tezpur-based NCC North Eastern Region additional director general, aims at giving an opportunity to understand and create awareness about diverse cultural diversity, history, flora and fauna and its people. It is attended by 600 cadets, including 100 from Uttar Pradesh and rest from all eight NE states.
NCC NER ADG Major Gen Raju Chauhan, group commander Brig. K.S. Rao, deputy group commander Col. R.B. Patil and Tezpur University pro-VC Prof Dilip Kumar Saikia, among others, were present. (PRO)
