Cong welcomes Bina Sena’s vow to work for masses

ITANAGAR, Feb 11: Congress inked a new record with Bina Sena, wife of late Setong Sena, who had served as former speaker-cum-minister, joining the party at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here on Monday and appointed chairperson of Changlang district labour cell.

“Our great leader late Sena was a trend setter politician,” APCC vice president Chera Taya said and hoped that she would maintain Sega legacy, said an APCC release.

Sena, a down to earth human being having faith in grassroots level democracy, had given a new thrust to agriculture-horticulture sector by not only enriching the rural economy, but also facilitating the state Govt to win prestigious Krishi Karman Award for four consecutive years for higher production of food grains.

“I want to work for the Congress as we have always been with the party. I am very happy as with this responsibility I shall be able to work for the people and help redress their grievances. I shall be specifically working for the labour class and women,” Bina said in reciprocation, adding that it is high time for women to come forward to serve the society.

Asked about the cause of her delay, she said, “I, though in Congress, but took time to settle down after the death of my husband to shoulder any responsibility, which evoked applause from the senior men and women leaders present.

Bina’s appointment was as per her desire to work at grassroots level, Taya said. Interestingly, she followed her late husband’s foot print as he had sought agriculture-horticulture portfolio from then CM Nabam Tuki to give a turnaround to the sector to benefit the masses.
