BANDERDEWA, Feb 11: Environment & Forest etc. Minister Nabam Rebia on Monday stressed on preserving traditional and cultural value of sate’s tribal communities to protect their identity, facing impacts of modernization.
Addressing Losar Festival revelers at Yangsang Palver Chhorten (Buddhist stupa) in PTC campus here, he lauded local people, particularly the Monpas for zealously guarding their rich cultural mosaic while maintaining low profile and living in communal harmony. He exhorted all to follow suit to keep tribal identity intact but assured all support for celebration of festivals of various communities before greeting the revelers.
Involvement of all communities symbolizing communal harmony and brotherhood is appreciable, former IMC councilor Tai Tassung said and lauded the organizers.
