CoSAAP condemns attack on PWD official

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has strongly condemned the alleged physical attack on a senior government official in Longding district on Friday.

According to the association, unidentified miscreants entered the government residence of Longding PWD division executive engineer S K Pandey on Friday and forcibly took away cash from him.

“The miscreants looted cash and physically assaulted the officer and ransacked the house when he refused to pay them their demands,” the association said terming the incident as unfortunate and serious.

Pandey is reportedly undergoing treatment in a hospital in Assam.

The CoSAAP said though the district administration and police is taking the case seriously and some arrests have also been made till date, the main culprits are, however, still at large.

“This is an unfortunate and serious incident. The CoSAAP appeals to the Longding district administration and police to apprehend the miscreants immediately and punish them under appropriate sections of law. Such type of criminal activities cannot be and should not be tolerated in this civilized society,” the association said.

The association also appreciated the local community based organizations and the public of Longding for lending their support and cooperation to the police in its search operations.

The CoSAAP has further urged the home department to provide security to the officers and officials serving in vulnerable positions/areas, so that they can deliver public services freely and at their best.
