NABARD’s MEDP focuses on king chilli farming

ITANAGAR, Dec 28: NABARD sponsored micro enterprise development programme (MEDP) on cultivation of King Chilli gets underway at Mariyang in Upper Siang district.

The training programme was officially launched on Tuesday at Mariyang village by District Development Manager of NABARD Nitya Mili.

Branch Manager APRB Mariyang, Gram Panchayat, PRI members, master trainer, Chairman Young Mission Adventure Club, village representative from Mariyang village was also present during the launching programme.

The skill training being implemented by Young Mission Adventure Club NGO would cover 30 SHG members of Mariyang village with the objective to provide livelihood and income generation opportunities to them thorugh cultivation of King Chilli and converting it to various value added products for sale.

The NABARD DDM advised all the trainees to take part in the 15 days training sincerely and learn the scientific way of cultivation of King Chilli.

“This will create an additional source of income earning avenue for the trainees. If necessary, bank finance will be facilitated to the trainees for cultivation of King Chilli in large scale,” he said and requested APRB Branch Manager to facilitate credit to the desirable candidates applying for loan.

The DDM also advised the NGO to follow up the trainees for a period of at least six months so that the objectives of the training viz. self-employment and income generation are met.

APRB Branch Manager M B Chetry guided the trainees regarding the documents and other checklist to be furnished by the SHG members for applying bank loan.

On the occasion YMAC Chairman Yomjum Yongam elaborated the aims and objective of the training programme.

He asked the trainees to participate in the training with full dedication so that their NGO can facilitate and guide the trainees for availing bank loan after completion of the training programme, a press release informed here.
