KHONSA, May 25: An ex-servicemen rally was organized by Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles on Thursday to reach out to veterans, veer naris and widows of Tirap and Longding districts.
The rally, held in close coordination with Zila Sainik Board, Rajya Sainik Board and state administration, was to address various grievances of ex-servicemen and resolve various pension anomalies along-with solving their day to day problems.
The rally witnessed approximately 150 of them, including from far-flung village on India-Myanmar border, who indulged in a healthy interactive session with civil and defence officials. Many of their problems were addressed and others were noted down for follow up action with various institutions like.
A medical stall was also set up to provide medical assistance to them. Dental checkup by a dental specialist of Assam Rifles in a fully equipped dentalvVan was conducted while the SBI and district statistics departments had also set up a facilitation counter to assist and guide them about Aadhar card and banking.
Dadam CO Pik Tayom, speaking as special guest, lauded the Khonsa Battalion for conducting such ex-servicemen rally in Tirap district since last few years which will immensely boost up their morale. He, on behalf of district administration, assured full cooperation for obtaining important documents and certificate etc.
Khonsa Battalion commandant Col Aman Ahluwalia, in his address, reassured them that their welfare is the prime concern of the serving fraternity and frequency of such interactions will be increased in future to address various issues.
The veterans, veer naris and their kin were enthused and lauded Khonsa Battalion for its efforte to reach out to them.
