NAHARLAGUN, May 25: Social worker and noted artist Yami Lazi and her sisters, in a simple function on Thursday, donated 50 wooden benches to Tertiary Cancer Centre (TCC) of Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Science (TRIHMS) here for the use of cancer patients and caregivers visiting the centre.
Yami, in her address, said that she herself had noted the difficulties faced by her family members during hospitalisation in TRIHMS. To contribute a bit from her side and to ease the hardships of patients, she came up with the idea to contribute the benches to the hospital and later her sisters pitched in. She hoped that the benches shall be useful for the patients and their caregivers.
Lauding the humanitarian novel efforts, TRIHMS chief medical superintendent Dr. Dukhum Raina urged them to continue contributing for betterment of the hospital-cum-lone medical college of the state. Such individual efforts would go a long way in helping the needy ones, he said and sought cooperation of all patients and attendants to hospital authorities for offering best possible health services to them. He exhorted one and all to keep the hospital premises and buildings clean and hygienic.
Cancer Control Programme state nodal officer-cum- TCC I/C Dr. S. Tsering also appreciated the donors for setting n example for others to emulate, according to an official release.
