APWWS asks about viral video showing beating of school child

ITANAGAR, Nov 29: The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS), in a letter to Itanagar Capital Region’s Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Child Welfare Committee member-secretary regarding a viral video showing beating of a school child that has gone viral in social media.

APWWS president Kani Nada Maling, expressing deep shock over the incident in the letter, stressed on importance of a child’s well-being and safety and urged authorities concern to conduct a thorough probe. She also sought prompt intervention and roper investigation into bullying at Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA), saying the incident would not have surfaced without the viral video.

She urged SLSA authority concerned to immediately constitute a committee to unearth the incident that took place in the hostel to take necessary action against the wrong doer to ensure that no such incident occurs in future. Moreover, she said that though no complaint was received by the APWWS, it is often heard that such incidents take place in many school hostels. Thus, exemplary action in this incident would serve as an eye-opener for all school authorities.

Additionally, Maling questioned the government for the delay in reconstitution of the Arunachal Pradesh State Committee for the Protection of Child Rights and called for its early reconstitution.
