Guv lauds APU’s 90.56 pass percentage

PASIGHAT, May 04: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik, also Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) Chancellor, has lauded APU’s first-semester 90.56 pass percentage and advised aim at higher percentage when it vice chancellor Prof. Tomo Riba called on him at Itanagar Raj Bhavan on Thursday last.

Prof. Riba presented APU status, including ongoing construction of academic building, residential buildings of VC, registrar and controller of examinations (CoE), entrance gate & approach road, recruitment of regular teaching faculties, grants received under PM-USHA scheme and formation of various cells as per the UGC norms.

The VC also urged him to conduct a meeting with education minister including secretary &  commissioner (education), secretary &  commissioner (finance), and Higher & Technical Education (HTE) director to discuss further development of the APU.

Parnaik expressed concern about quality of construction in state’s lone university, delay in completion of project, proper utilisation of project funds. He also consented to the VC’s plea for inauguration of the academic building. Prof Riba also sought additional teaching positions as per UGC norms.

The VC also met HTE director Alik Jonkey, who informed about construction of a security wall and approach road for VC, registrar and CoE residences would be approved soon, according to an APU release.
