Guv seeks TRIHMS periodic reports for tangible actions to boost Arunachal health index

NAHARLAGUN, May 09: Governor Lt. General (Retd) K T Parnaik during his maiden visit to Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRIHMS) here on Wednesday asked director Dr Moji Jini to send him periodic reports of ailments and lifestyle causes to take steps to improve health index of the state.

He said that automation of health data will assist the state Govt to effectively frame policies, programmes and focus on key areas, which should be shared with health department.

Parnaik inspected various departments, intensive coronary care unit, intensive care units, indoor patient wards, reception and registration sections, doctor consultation area and  emergency wards.

He interacted with indoor patients, doctors, nursing officers, patients and their guardians to get firsthand knowledge about effectiveness of facilities provided in the hospital. .

While expressing his happiness on seeing large numbers working local doctors in various posts, he advocated that TRIHMS should endeavour to train more nursing officers and increase quota for MBBS admissions. Having local medical officers would solve problem of shortage or absence of healthcare in rural areas, he reasoned.

The governor, who has been advocating for the setting up of village volunteers, particularly womenfolk, to be trained in health care, hygiene and sanitation, suggested TRIHMS to take up this challenge in districts with its doctors and nursing officers. Such initiatives would help tackle minor health issues in rural areas and maintain cleanliness by reinforcing the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he said.

He advocated for getting additional advanced medical equipments to assist in treatment of neurological disorders and stroke.

TRIHMS Director, Dr. Moji Jini and chief medical superintendent Dr. D. Raina, while escorting the governor, briefed him about accomplishments and challenges of state’s first medical college & hospital. (PRO)
